About Mother Mary
I’ve been on this planet for more
than half a century, so it’s not easy to fit that
in a nutshell. I was born June 26, 1951 in Lom, Bulgaria,
lived in Sofia, Bulgaria, and came to Toronto, Ontario,
Canada on August 27, 1957.
Some labels that apply to me are: woman,
wife, mother, daughter, sister, grandmother, business person,
Canadian, Bulgarian, immigrant yada, yada, yada. The labels
are endless. I’ll try to show a glimpse of the real
me here. Full disclosure is nice, but not possible in a
brief summary.
The best part of my life is my family and friends. I love
people. I consider my friends to be like family I have chosen
for myself. My cat is also part of my family.
I am gratefully recovering from a series of near death experiences
(like my blood clot to the lungs and heart attack to name
just two). Maybe I love my cat and cats in general because
they have nine lives, and I feel that God has given me more
than one life.
I choose to help people with the rest of my life, in a way
that I feel honors my life experiences and struggles, as
well as my goals for my life and everything that goes along
with that. I thank everyone that has contributed in any
way to making me who I am today, both good and bad, and
want to invite everyone to share what I’ve learned
so far.
I feel that my purpose is to share my happiness
and bring beauty and joy to the world.
Join me and see if any of this can help you. I hope we can
work together and move towards “full disclosure”
(the latest business lingo in my world), together.
You can always leave. You can always say no, but first check
me out. It’s free.
Who knows? I might have what you’re looking for and
you just don’t know, right?
Welcome.
Curiosity is good and it never killed a cat yet, that I
know of.

I had an open RNY April 15, 2002. RNY is
an official term for one type of Weight Loss Surgery (WLS).
I consider this my re-birth
day. I'm spending the rest of my life looking after myself
and helping others to have what I have found. I thank God
every day for my transformation and will live the rest of
my life in gratitude.
My life is a journey and I will be a work in progress till
the day I die. Most important change? Life
is easier when you lose weight. This doesn't
mean that there are no more problems (or challenges, as
they are now called), but you can handle it all when routine
things like looking after your hygiene and just being able
to walk are not a major struggle. You may even have more
problems, new problems, or different problems. The thing
is, I find it all less overwhelming than before. So will
you.
The hardest change? Doing the brain "surgery"
necessary to match the physical change.
WLS is only a tool.
You have to do your own mental catch-up. But this is the
best part, because you are worth the effort. You have to
do it for yourself. The people who truly love you will love
you no matter what package you come in. Don't do it for
them. Do it for yourself and spend the rest of your life
respecting the life you have been given and loving yourself.
Show yourself the love and respect you only saved for others
until now. Not instead of loving and respecting others,
but in addition to that. Learn to be your own best friend.
Anyway, I could go on forever, but for all you pre-ops,
let me just say that I remember
your feelings of fear and doubt and guilt and shame.
In my case, WLS
was a helping hand up. It
helped me leave the land of the living dead that I dwelled
in and come up to the land of the living. As dramatic as
that sounds, words cannot fully express how I feel. The
truth is even more dramatic.
Enjoy the journey and remember
that every day will be better than the one before. Do something
good for yourself. You're definitely worth it. God brought
you here. Love and respect to all on this path. You are
all in my daily prayers. 1
